The AquamarLite is the non-stash busting, lighter version of my original AquaMarline sweater. This cropped sweater with bubble sleeves is worked from the bottom-up with no seaming. I wanted to provide the option of knitting this silhouette with a single strand of DK or with fingering weight held double.
Needles & Notions:
Size US 7 / 4.5mm in 16” & 32” circular needles (cable length will vary depending on size of garment you are knitting)
Size US 7 / 4.5mm DPNs unless you prefer the Magic Loop method
Size US 4 / 3.5mm DPNs or circular needle if you prefer the Magic Loop method
Size US 5 / 3.75mm in 16” & 32” circular needle
Stitch markers, tapestry needle, stitch holder/scrap yarn
Sizing:
XS(S, M, L, XL) (XXL, 3XL, 4XL, 5XL)
Bust: 28(32, 36, 40, 44) (48, 52, 54, 60) inches;
71(81.25, 91.5, 101.5, 111.75) (122, 132, 136.25, 152.5) cm
This garment is meant to be worn with 0-3” negative ease. Choose a size that is closest to or up to 3” less than your actual bust measurement. I have a 35” bust and am wearing a size Small, so this is what 3” of negative ease looks like.
Gauge: 20 stitches and 29 rows/4” on a US 7 / 4.5mm, stockinette in the round, lightly steam blocked.
Yarn:
DK Weight yarn or light Worsted Weight
My sample show in Dream in Color Cosette in colors Charcoal Prismatic, Kiss Me Kate, & Tuscan
Note on yarn: If you want to make this version a stash buster, you can hold two fingering/sock weight yarns together to achieve the same DK weight yarn. Other combinations would be two lace weights with a sock/fingering strand or a single strand of your DK weight scraps.
Note on Fade: To achieve a fade with a single strand, choose variegated (not solid) yarns that fade together well even in skein form.
Yardage:
825(1000, 1125, 1200, 1375) (1480, 1540, 1680, 1800) yards
Note on yardage/color: The listed amount is total yardage. If you would like to do a fade, take however many skeins you need and divide it up amongst the colors. I used 2 skeins of my bottom color and then one skein of each of the other colors for the fade. If you are knitting this sweater holding two sock weights together, the yardage requirement doubles.
