Aquitaine is a triangle shawl with a simple lace pattern reflected across the spine. The pattern includes numbers (number of repeats, stitch counts) for a shawl that uses about 412 yds of fingering weight yarn. However, Aquitaine can be upsized (or downsized) by any number of repeats-- no matter how many times you work Chart 1, Chart 2 will still fit like a glove.

Both written and charted instructions are included in the pattern.

Note: If you’re concerned about yardage, or are using a skein with less than 412 yds (or a skein that is exactly 412 yds), omit one of the repeats-- that is, work Chart 1 nine times, instead of ten times.

Written Directions, Part I: Plumage, Row 1 should read:

Row 1 (RS): K2, slm, yo, k2tog, yo, (k4, k2tog, yo) until last two stitches before next marker, k2, yo, slm, k1, slm, yo, k2, (yo, ssk, k4) until last two stitches, yo, ssk, yo, slm, k2.

All versions after 7/15/11 have had this error corrected.
