I am told this pattern is addicting to knit. I designd this to teach basic cables and bobbles and most people “get” the pattern after about 10 rows and no longer have to follow a chart. I do recommend using a row counter. It is very easy to size since the hat is knit in a strip which is then joined. Measure the widest part of the head (usually above the eyebrows) and then knit this hat 1” smaller for a snug fit. The crown is picked up on dpn and knit to the top which I have ended in an I-Cord knot. A pom pom would work as well.
