Arctic Moonlight
When I first knit up the Arctic Moonlight beanie, I closed my eyes and reminisced about how much my dog Yukon loved our midnight walks through the snow-covered bog behind our little cabin in the woods. The braided cables make a nice, thick fabric for the hat, perfect for staying warm on those quiet, late-night meanders.
Sizing
I provide instructions for 4 finished circumferences: 14”/35.5cm (16.3”/41.5cm) (18.7”/47.5cm) (21”/53.5cm). I recommend knitting the size that gives closest to 4 inches (10 cm) of negative ease relative to your head circumference. Finished heights are 7.3”/18.5cm (8.5”/21.5cm) (9.8”/25cm) (9.8”/25cm).
Yarn
130-170m (142-186 yds) per strand: use a strand of DK-weight yarn held double with a strand of mohair OR substitute a single strand of worsted-weight yarn.
The mohair gives the soft, halo-like appearance to the hat, but this effect could also be achieved by using an alpaca-blended yarn
Instructions are provided in both written and charted formats.
Sample shown in the 16.3”/41.5cm size on a 21.5”/54.5cm head, knit with a strand of DK held double with a strand of mohair.
