This large, ornamental stole is inspired by the beautiful scarves and stoles from Alaska’s native knitters.

The Uppik (Snowy Owl) lives all year round in the Arctic. These owls are very patient birds, sitting very still for a long time and waiting for a lemming to show up. According to Inuit legend, the owl was once a young girl who was magically turned into an owl with a long beak, but when it was startled it flew into the side of a house, flattening its face and beak.

The stole only requires basic knitting skills such as yarnovers, left and right leaning and a double centre decrease plus the ability to read a knitting chart and approx. 1,300 yards 1,200m of your favourite lace weight yarn.

Width: 25” 65cm , length: 82” 210cm after blocking.

Natural Fantasy Superyak melange, 50% merino, 50% superyak, 700m per 100g.
