The Arctic Redpoll lives and breeds above the arctic tree line in sheltered areas of the tundra. Occasionally this pale, but pretty, bird is found as far south as the foothills of Southern Alberta.
The Arctic Redpoll has very fluffy grey and pink body feathers that help it stay warm in extremely cold temperatures. The pink and grey colouration of this avian inhabitant of the north is the inspiration for this cowl.

10 stitches and 12 Rows = 5 cm / 2 inches in lace stitch pattern on US 8 (5 mm) needles

Approximate yardage - est. 170 g / 6 oz. (340 m / 372 yds)

Yarn - James C. Brett Marble DK 220 m / 100 g (240 yds / 3.5 oz), 2 balls. Colour MT5 Granite (Greys / Pinks). Any currently available DK (#3) yarn with similar yardage may be substituted.

Needles - US 8 (5 mm) circular, 24″ / 60 cm long
