Arduina Tote
I named this bag after the Celtic goddess of the woodlands, Arduina. With the beautiful flowers I felt it deserved a nature-based name, and since the flowers remind me of Scottish Thistle, a Celtic goddess was perfect!
I don’t mean to brag, but this bag is gorgeous, and I have added some extra things that are entirely optional, because we all like options, right? Some of these options, I feel, make for a stronger sturdier bag but you do not have to do any of them to create a beautiful, functional bag.
Options include:
• Adding wire to the bottom of the bag for a sturdier bottom
• Lining your crochet bag with a canvas bag with handles or
lining with material (or not at all) and crocheting the
handles
• Crocheting, gluing, or sewing your liner to your bag
Materials:
– Any size 4 cotton, 3 different colors, (although I think it would be beautiful in one color too) yarn will probably work, but I used I Love This Cotton, In 24 Ivory (Approx. 238 yards, with handles 360 yards) in 250 Amethyst (114 yards) and 40 Sage. (67 yards). Pattern is worked in multiples of 3.
– Size I/9-5.50mm Crochet Hook, Size J/10-6.00 (I use Boye) I crochet loose, if you do not, you may need to go up a hook size.
– Tapestry Needle
- If you want to line your bag, you will need: (Optional)
- 14 3/4‘x15’ canvas bag (mine came from Hobby Lobby) OR material of your choice (Optional)
- Glue or Thread and a sewing needle (Optional) -If you chose to crochet your liner bag to your crocheted bag (it is hard, but worth it) you will need a “45 mm Fiskars skip stitch rotary cutter”.
- 1/16 Steel Wire Rope 3 to 4 feet (Optional)
- Non Insulated Butt Connector 16-14 Gauge Electrical Wire Seamless (Optional)
Finished bag measures: 14.5 tall by 15 wide without handles
