This cowl is knit in the round, bottom-up, using the Waving Wheat lace stitch pattern. Suri or Mohair make a lovely lightweight fabric that fills out the pattern gorgeously, especially after blocking.

This little cowl is perfect for spring or fall, with a jacket or on its own. It knits up easily and quickly, with a lace pattern that looks impressively intricate and complex but in reality is quite simple.

Size: 17” tall x 27” (at top) and 29” (at bottom);
43cm tall x 69cm (at top) and 76.5cm (at bottom).

Needles: US 8 / 5mm, or size to obtain gauge; plus US 7 / 4.5mm, or one size smaller than gauge needles, both in 22 - 30” / 55 - 75cm circular needles.

Gauge: 1 Waving Wheat pattern repeat (16 sts and 12 rnds) = 3.25 x 2.25” / 8.5cm x 5.5cm on larger needles.

Yarn: Laceweight Suri (or Mohair):
290 yards / 265 meters.

Notions: 9 stitch markers, tapestry needle.

Sample knit in: Emma’s Yarn Suri Silk (74% Baby Suri, 26% Silk; 328 yards / 50g) in Foxy Lady.
