This is a great project to begin your exploration into Argyle knitting! It moves fairly quickly using the DK weight yarn, and then you have a stylish retro design hat to wear. Once you start making these, it will be hard to stop.

You can either knit the criss cross Xs as you go (there’s something very satisfying about seeing those little lines grow with all the rest of the knitting), or simply leave them out, and then duplicate stitch them on after the hat is knit.
