The Atomic Robin Hood Merry Madness Dress was inspired by the fairytale feel of autumn in the Adirondacks. From sunset golds and pinks to the midnight blue of a clear September evening, this explosive take on a simple lace-knit halter dress is fit for any celebration!

  • S: 32-34
  • M: 36-38
  • L: 40-42
  • XL: 44-46
  • XXL: 48-50

Note: While there is negative ease at the bust, and a fitted elastic waist, the rest of the garment has positive ease to give the fabric its flowing appearance.

  • A 1/8-inch sew-on snap for neckline i-cord.

Required Skills:

  • knitting and purling in the round and flat
  • yarnovers
  • directional decreases
  • casing
  • reading lace charts
  • i-cord
  • picking up stitches
  • three-needle bind-off

IMPORTANT NOTES:

  • This pattern is written using charts. A key with written instructions is given for individual stitches, but you must be able to read charts to complete this pattern. All charts are read from right to left and show odd-numbered rounds.

  • This dress requires an elastic (or drawstring) at the natural waist to fit correctly. Without cinching the waistline, it will not sit as designed.

  • This dress is worked in the round from the bottom up. Stitches are made and divided over two separate needles to create a casing for the waistband. The lower bodice is knit in the round, and the shoulder decreases and neckline are knit flat.

  • There is an option for four different skirt lengths: 35”, 31”, 30”, 26” from the waistband to hem.

  • There are instructions for an I-cord and sew-on snap to feed through the front and back neckline, but you can feel free to play with this design by using a ribbon, torque necklace, or metal choker at the neckline to give your dress a little more pizzaz.

  • Due to the nature of lace knitting, the dress is see-through and the lining/undergarments are up to your discretion. For my own dress, I created a fitted, stretchy liner that is stitched into the garment at the neckline.
