Ariella alpaca hat
An ideal first Tunisian project using luxurious handspun alpaca yarn
These instructions explain how to make a hat using a combination of traditional single crochet and Tunisian simple stitch worked in the round, a technique that takes excellent advantage of highly textured novelty yarns.
You need two kinds of hooks for this project:
- Size K standard crochet hook
- Size L double-ended Tunisian hook
You also need two kinds of yarn:
- A smooth, worsted weight yarn for the crown
- A textured novelty yarn for the hat sides
The alpaca yarns used for this pattern create an exceptionally soft, warm, and wonderfully textured hat.
