Arisaig
The Story
Arisaig, located on the Sunrise Trail along the Northumberland Strait that separates Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island, is a small Nova Scotia village founded in the late 1700s by Scottish immigrants who named it after their home on the west coast of Scotland. A seaside marvel, the Arisaig Sea Cliffs are world-famous for their fossils. So, wrap yourself in comfort as you share in the natural beauty of its breath-taking seascape.
Arisaig is a triangle shawl knit from the shortest side to the tip. The shawl begins with a Double Chain Cast On (written directions and link to a picture tutorial included) which mimics an I-Cord cast on but avoids the long loops that the latter often creates. A crochet hook is used for this cast on.
The cable panel is worked along the right edge (as knit)
of the shawl. The edges are worked in slipped-stitch mock I-cord for a lovely rounded finish.
This pattern is fully charted. Chart reading is necessary to work this pattern.
