The current version of the pattern uses Madelinetosh DK and Sock in Grasshopper.

My father is a lepidopterist, an entomologist who specializes in moths. He is hard to please when it comes to realistic details. These little larvae are sure to impress the pickiest insectophile in your life. This army of caterpillars is inspired by the larvae in the Sphingidae family – hawk moths, sphinx moths and hummingbird moths.

The pattern is knit in the round on DPNs--purl ridges create the segmented abdomens, and knitted bobbles form the tiny legs.

The Caterpillars are knit in Fancy Tiger Heirloom Romney yarn in colors Cabbage (XS), Carrot (S), Golden Beet (M), Nettles (L) and Well Water (XL)
Jumbo Caterpillar is made with color Quinoa held double.
