Arnprior Cardigan
Snuggle up in a super cosy cardigan with a pretty lace design. This is perfect winter wear and knits up so quickly with super bulky yarn and big needles.
We cast on stitches at the shoulders and work down the upper back working short rows at the shoulders and armhole shaping, as well as knitting a gorgeous lace design as we go. Stitches are picked up at each shoulder for the fronts where we work armhole shaping to match the back, then we join all stitches at the underarms and work down to the hem. Increases are worked at the inner edge of both fronts for a little extra cosiness! We pick up stitches around both armholes and work sleeves down to the cuffs, working just a little more lace on the way.
Arnprior Farm becomes a fabulous pumpkin patch in the Autumn and is a firm favourite of my daughter. This cardigan is so quick to knit that I managed to finish the bulk of it on the drive to and from Arnprior this year. The beautiful pink and orange tones of the yarn are perfectly reminiscent of sweet treats at the pumpkin patch.
Suggested Yarn:
Elizabeth Pawle Super Chunky Yarn (100% merino wool) 130 m/142 yds per 200g skein. Colourway: Ballroom.
Meterage: (250, 300, 335) 405, 445, 485 {585, 655, 700} (820, 870) m.
Yardage: (275, 330, 370) 440, 485, 530 {640, 715, 760} (900, 950) yds.
Needles: 10 mm/US 15 75 cm/30” circular needle or as required to achieve correct gauge.
Gauge: 7.5 sts and 12 rows = 10 cm/4” in stocking stitch after blocking. We recommend casting on a multiple of three stitches for your swatch and including one repeat of the Lace Pattern Worked Flat – you may find if your yarn is not stretchy (e.g. a cotton blend) you need to work the gathers loosely.

Sizing Info:
There is an extended range of sizes for this pattern to allow for a choice of ease. All measurements are garment measurements. Since this cardigan is open at the front (and please if you choose to knit a size with no ease the fronts will likely not close at the front) we recommend using the “across back underarm to underarm” and “upper sleeve circumference” to decide which size would fit you best. We recommend 0-12.5cm/0-5” of positive ease on the across back underarm to underarm measurement depending on your desired fit. Please note that sleeves are bracelet length, but instructions are given to increase length as desired.
