Around the World DK Blanket
The Around the World DK Blanket, was begun after the start of our new pandemic stay-at-home lifestyle, and represents a new form of virtual travel. For the time being we are static enough to enjoy our stash yarns! I have been lucky enough to travel all over the globe in pursuit of knitting adventures. I have visited many yarn shops and yarn producers and always like to show my support by purchasing a souvenir skein or two. Over the years they have been clamouring to be given their chance to be knit. Now was the time. I began by browsing my stash and enjoying the reminiscences. I hope you will too. To help you choose yarns I will make suggestions to help you shop your stash and maybe augment any missing colours from a deserving local yarn store or independent dyer. Everyone needs a little help right now.
The blanket is begun with a circular tubular cast on, there are two skill options offered and video support included. The pattern is both written and charted up to Rnd 24, to give you a chance to adjust to using the wonderful Stitch-map style charts. The remaining rounds (up to 251) are in chart format.
Bobbles and garter bumps are used intermittently to add textural interest. For the bobble-phobic they can be omitted or reduced to more reasonable number, options are given. In the outer striped band zone you have opportunity to dabble with a little non-negative/positive patterning to show the points of the compass correctly on both sides if you so wish! The final dark band offers a little 3 colour knitting if desired!
