The Arran Isle Beanie is a nod to my homeland and favorite hobby. Named for an island off the west coast of Scotland it is also a play on the Aran knitting style from Ireland. Luscious cables and loads of texture work up together to create a cozy folded brim beanie. It doesn’t get more traditional than this!

The hourglass cables are so fun to knit and combined with Celtic style cables, they provide the perfect blend of timeless and traditional style for the discerning maker. Instructions for three weights are included, as well as charts, tables and video tutorials. You’ll appreciate the bulky version and the coziness it provides on cold, snowy days, the light bulky weight for those brisk, sunny days, and the lighter worsted weight for cool spring mornings. Three weights to cover you most of the year!

Intermediate-level pattern is written in US terms (English).
Pattern is for a one-size-fits-most unisex beanie with folded brim that can be adjusted for fit. Pattern is knit in the round from the bottom up with an 18 or 24-stitch repeat over 12 rounds.

Directions are for:
Bulky weight with size US 10.5/11 (6.5/8 mm) needles.
Light bulky weight with US 9/10 (5.5 mm/6 mm) needles.
Worsted weight with US 6/7 (5.5 mm/6 mm) needles.
Recommended yarn is Malabrigo Chunky, Mecha and Seis Cabos, Rios or Worsted. Many other brands will work, but be sure to check recommended needle size and confirm gauge with a test swatch before beginning.

Please note, there are no instructions included to make a faux fur pompom. This pattern is for the beanie only.
