Sobre el diseño

Este echarpe fue diseñado especialmente como un regalo para todos los tejedores de Chile, mi país, como parte de la gran fiesta del tejido a dos agujas y a crochet que tenemos en el mes
de septiembre (mes de la patria): #cachaielkal. (si no estás en Chile, ¡también es un regalo para ti! siéntete libre de descargarlo y tejerlo). En esta fiesta todos los tejedores del país hacemos un KAL/CAL donde tejemos patrones de diseñadores chilenos y celebramos la gran comunidad que tenemos en torno al tejido, de norte a sur y de mar a cordillera.
Este echarpe está construido en dos partes que se tejen por separado en punto correteado (como le decimos en Chile al punto bobo o Santa Clara), comenzando por la punta y haciendo
aumentos progresivos hasta alcanzar los puntos necesarios para continuar tejiendo el cuerpo de la prenda, formando así dos rectángulos que luego se juntan al medio (o más bien se
“arrejuntan”) mediante un cierre de tres agujas. Esta palabra tan especial es la forma coloquial de “juntarse” y es muy típica de la idiosincrasia chilena, relevando así la inspiración del echarpe y la premisa del KAL/CAL: arrejuntémonos, lo que para mí significa que todos los que formamos parte de la comunidad chilena de tejido nos arrejuntemos presencial y digitalmente desde en y desde nuestras ciudades y pueblos (sobre todo después de estos dos largos años de pandemia) y celebremos juntos esto que tanto amamos: el tejido en todas sus formas.
Espero que este diseño te guste y quieras tejerlo, sea cual sea el lugar del mundo donde estés, para que te lleves un pedacito de este hermoso país al fin del mundo, llamado Chile.

La parte divertida

Este echarpe se puede tejer con cualquier hilado, fibra y/o grosor con el tamaño de aguja que
más se acomode a tu hilado. Puedes usar porciones de hilados sobrantes de otros proyectos,
hacerlo de un solo color, en bloques de color, o en gradiente (como yo tejí el mío). Puedes
hacerlo más pequeño o más grande, más delgado o más grueso, etc. El patrón es tuyo y
puedes hacer con él lo que más te guste y con lo que tengas a la mano en tu reserva de
hilados.
De todas formas, el patrón contiene instrucciones de cambio de color, como el original, pero
puedes ignorar esas instrucciones y seguir tus propias reglas de color :).

About the design

This wrap was specially designed as a gift for all the knitters from Chile, my country, as part of the great knitting and crochet party that we have in September (month of the homeland): #cachaielkal. (if you are not in Chile, it is also a gift for you! feel free to download it and knit it). At this party, all the knitters in the country make a KAL/CAL where we knit patterns by Chilean designers and we celebrate the great community that we have around knitting, from north to south and from sea to mountain range.
This wrap is worked in two parts that are knitted separately in garter stitch, starting from the tip and making progressive increases until reach the necessary sts to just keep working the body of the wrap, shaping two rectangles that meet in the middle (or rather, they “se arrejuntan” in the middle) by using a three-needle bind-off. This very special word is the colloquial form to “join”, and is very typical of the Chilean idiosyncrasy. It relieves the inspiration of the wrap and the premise of the KAL/CAL: let’s get together, we all get together in person or digitally from our cities and towns (especially after these two long years of pandemic) and celebrate together what we love so much: knitting in all its forms.
I hope you like it and want to knit it, wherever you are in the world, so that you can take a little piece of this beautiful country at the end of the world called Chile.

The fun part

This wrap can be knitted with any yarn, fiber and weight, you can change the needle size and use leftovers, one single color, make it as a color block garment, or in fade (as I knitted mine). You can make it smaller or bigger, thinner or thicker, etc. The pattern is yours and you can do with it what you like and with what you have on hand in your stash. However, the pattern contains color change instructions as the sample, but you can ignore those instructions if you don’t want to knit it that way.
I hope you enjoy knitting it as much as I enjoyed designing it.
