This graphic scarf is based on the striped and chevroned scarf designs of the 1930s. Whether done in a modern, high-contrast neon like the example here, or soft pastels and white, this striking little scarf provides an elegant vintage touch to your spring or autumn outfit. The chevron stripes are worked in garter stitch, and the scarf section is picked up and knit in a simple stockinette lace. A simple crochet border completes the scarf. While easy to modify to different gauges, to preserve the drape of the original, I recommend 4-ply or fingering weight yarn, nothing heavier than DK. The entire scarf can be done in less than one 100g skein of yarn, and the stripes means it can be easily be made from yarn oddments. Make it from cashmere for a quick, luxurious gift, or from merino for crisp lines.
