Art Yarn Embellished Shawl
This shawl pattern was designed to utilize the wonderful selections of Art Yarns out there now! You will need anywhere from 20 to 80 yards of Art Yarn.
Many sizes are possible: from neck scarf to large shawl. Gauge is not important in this pattern. Use whatever size needles go with the yarns you have chosen.
A base yarn and an Art Yarn is needed. Two versions of the pattern are included. Version A is using “stripe” rows of Art Yarn with “as-you-go” fringe and Version B uses the Art Yarn as the edging. The base shape of the shawl is worked basically the same way - triangle or hex-bottom.
The version you choose may depend on the quantity of Art Yarn. This is the fun part!
Models:
Purple base yarn (worsted wt - 220 yds), hand-dyed Semi-Gradient lockspun bulky (60 yds)
Size 35 needles, Version A (stripe) unblocked measures: 35” x 75”
Patina base yarn (sport wt - 200 yds), lockspun bulky (60 yds)
Size 17 needles, Version A (stripe) blocked measures: 58” x 30”
Natural base yarn (fingering wt - 185 yds), natural lockspun (45 yds)
Size 15 needles, Version A (stripe) unblocked: 20” x 48”
Denim base yarn (worsted wt - 400 yds), bulky handspun art yarn (20 yds)
Size 15 needles and a “P” crochet hook, Version B (edging) unblocked: 24” x 74”
Gray base yarn (worsted wt - 200 yds), bulky handspun art yarn (18 yds)
Size 17 needles and an “S” or “N” crochet hook, Version B (edging) unblocked: 25” x 60”
I chose not to block most of the models - I prefer to have more texture. If those sizes were to be blocked, they would of course be larger!
