Artemis Japarta
This is a fundraising pattern for my late brother, Mino (1971-2004).
Deeply inspired by “Artemis Cowl” (http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/artemis-cowl) and encouraged by its designer, Snarkmeister, I designed this shawl, “Artemis Japarta”. It is a triangle shawl with diamond lace pattern in the middle and textured stitches on the sides.
You start from the tip of the triangle and keep increasing until it reaches at the ideal size for you. I provide the two samples; small size in single-color and large in two colors.
The pattern includes the complete written instruction and the color coded chart for the lace pattern.
Sept 21, 2014 - Revised and updated pattern (ver. 2.1) and chart (ver.2.0) is available. Chart is not color coded, but in one page. I will leave the original chart along with it.
Skill required: K, P, YO, K2tog, SSK, S1pwif (Slip 1 st purl wise a yarn in front), Sk2p (Slip 1, K2tog, psso)
Required yardage: Small (single color) requires 360 yards; Large (2-color) requires 275 yards each (550 yard total) but it is totally customizable
Finished Size after blocking:
Small: 20” x 50”
Large: 25” x 60”
Please refer to the test knitters’ projects for the yardage and finished sizes.
All the proceeds of this pattern will be donated to the Minoru Hokari Memorial Scholarship Fund at the Australian National University. My late brother, Minoru Hokari (“Mino” 1971-2004) died of cancer at the age of 32. The scholarship fund supports young scholars who study Indigenous Australians through fieldwork. We are trying to fully fund it to achieve its perpetuity. Please help.
Please visit Being Connected with HOKARI MINORU (www.hokariminoru.org) to meet Mino.
