Artisan
Because we are all artisans with needles here, this jumper features a novel construction to keep things interesting. Knit in two main pieces which are then knit together without seaming, there is no need to pick up a sewing needle until you weave in your ends. No, not even for one tiny underarm seam.
With practical sleeves that can be turned back to stop them getting in that bread dough (or wool dye) and an oversized fit for total freedom of movement, this a sweater for the busy creative. The design combines utility with the clarity of line and vigour that give it a fashionable look as ready for a day of street art, as it is bringing in that arm of firewood.
Knit it all in garter, and one colour, like my sample, or show what an artisan you are by ringing the changes. The pattern includes some suggested variations which require little or no re-working of the maths.
The New Lanark wool I used is hard wearing enough to cope with the roughest demands of the artisan life, and and provides a very structured look to the finished item. A softer yarn will provide a more draped appearance. As this is fairly heavy weight jumper in garter I would advise a yarn with good memory - one that won’t stretch unduly under its own weight. Most wool and acrylic yarns should be fine.
