Aruma Happy Socks
Aruma means ‘happy’ in a local aboriginal language, and it is a fitting name for these socks.
All those colours and the lovely floating diamond shapes make me happy.
Worked from the top down and featuring a reinforced heel and toe, these socks are fun to knit and gift.
Instructions include tips on adjusting for differernt size feet and two versions, a single coloured, as well as the striped version.
Sizes: Women’s to fit a foot circumference of between 20 to 23 cm, or 8 to 9 inches,
sock height and length are adjustable, this way the socks can be made to fit most feet( shoe sizes of 7 to 12)
Materials: 100 g sock yarn in total for one pair in one colour, or 60 g natural/ solid and 40g variegated/ gradient for the striped pair
Yarn Suggestions: Regia 4 Ply 100g Natural Austermann Step (Ennis)
Knitting needles: I used a set of 5 DPN’s size 2.5 mm or US 1.5 and the instructions are written for this set up. Feel free to substitute with short or long circulars or magic loop. Tension/ Gauge: 30 stitches and 42 rows make 10 cm or 4 “ square
