Ascendant lets you use a series of colors to create a comfy ribbed hat. It’s the perfect partner for mini-skein sets, and is a great stashbuster, too. Mix bright yarns for a color striping party or use neutrals to keep it sophisticated - this hat will let you express your style.

You will want to knit this pattern again and again because:

  • It has user-friendly, detailed instructions, with stitch counts provided any time there is a change.
  • The simple knit/purl combination makes this easy to knit while watching TV, traveling, or chatting at the coffee shop.
  • The pattern lends itself to making “matching but not the same” gift sets - Use the same colors, but in a different order for each hat.
  • With sizing for kids and adults, you can knit this for everyone in the family.
  • Before you are done with one hat, you will be thinking about what colors you can use for the next. This hat has endless possibilities!

Gauge: 28 sts and 36 rounds to 4”/10 cm in k3, p1 pattern after blocking. Note that this is a very stretchy hat.

The sample was made with A Hundred Ravens Iachos Minis, a 100% merino wool yarn with 400 yards/366 meters per 100 grams. Other wool or wool-blend yarns would work well with this pattern.
