Is it just me or are knits in the boy department lacking some pizzazz? I was looking for a pattern to make for friends having their second baby boy and finally (frustrated!) decided to make my own design. I wanted minimal seaming (not that I mind it), a cute hood, and some texture to keep me interested in the knitting of said sweater. I went with a simple knit/purl texture that looks like building blocks. The textured detail is subtle enough to complement both solid and handpaint worsted weights. All-in-all: a fun, quick knit for baby gifts and childrenswear. I hope you enjoy knitting it.

Construction Details
This hoodie is made from the bottom-up in one piece. The sleeves are worked flat for easier attachment and quicker knitting (no DPN’s!). There are some short-rows to help give the neck some shape, and stitches are picked up for the buttonband after the sweater body and hood are completed.
