Asheville Scarf
This is a scarf inspired by a trip to SAFF (Southeastern Animal Fiber Fair) held in Asheville, NC in October 2022: Blue Ridge Mountains, fall foliage, winding roads, falling leaves, bamboo stands, and yarn everywhere you look!
There are 10 sections to the scarf, each of which is 44 rows in length. Each section is expected to be worked in 1 color, but use as many colors, in any order, as you wish. This pattern is designed to be worked from the charts. Text is provided for each segment to help establish the position of the motifs. Individual motif patterns are found at the end of the pattern with full text descriptions.
Size (after blocking): 11½ ” x 53”/29.25 x 136 cm
Materials:
Fingering yarn : Miss Babs Yummy 2-Ply Toes, 100% superwash merino, 133 yds/121 m per 1.3 oz/38 g, in Chrysoberyl, Moss, Dark Andromeda, Whitsunday, and Supernova: 1 skein/ball each.
Or any fingering weight yarn in 1-11 different colors: Total of 665 yds/608 m
If using stash yarns, assume each segment will use 67 yds/62 m
The Road Way motif may be worked in intarsia in a contrasting color along the entire length of the scarf; if doing this, allow 200 yds/183 m and reduce yardages for other colors to 47 yds/43 m for each segment
