Description:

• Some makers are phenomenal at knitting fair isle or color work, but the more I knit, the more I realize my favorite is texture. The first time I knitted up this design, I discovered something I didn’t expect - it comes to a perfect X in the back! I love happy accidents. The mixture of stitches creates a beautiful texture that I personally love, and the gradual decrease makes it my favorite kind of relaxed fit.
• This design is meant to be a close fit around the head, with a longer length for the slouch, not fitted close to the crown. But, that’s my preference for a beanie. Play around with it! If you love a fitted beanie, decrease sooner.

Size:
- Finished beanie fits an average adult woman’s
head, 21 to 22 in / 53 to 56 cm
- Finished dimensions, taken from item laid flat
and unstretched, after steam blocking: 7.5 in wide x 10 in tall / 19 cm wide x 25 cm tall

Materials:

• I used a US 13 / 9.0 mm OR needles to obtain gauge. If your swatch is too small, bump up your needle size. If it’s too large, size down needles. I am a very tight knitter, so if you’re a loose knitter, a smaller needle might do the trick.
• 65 to 75 yards / 104 to 120 g of size 6/super bulky yarn ** Yardage is approximate - your tension can affect how much yarn is used **
• Recommendations: Lion Brand Wool Ease thick and Quick, Lion Brand Hometown USA, Big Twist, Buttercream Luxe Craft Alpaca, or any other similar size 6 yarns
• Designer’s Sample used Buttercream Luxe Craft Alpaca in the color Taupe
