Ashley Hills Caplet
Think of a vintage “smoke ring” that floated around the wearer’s neck, only now updated into a warm hug that cuddles your shoulders and upper arms. Caplet, cowl, shawl, this versatile little garment is all three.
Knit in the round from the top down, this easy-to-wear DK weight garment has a bit of lace just below the neck edge and alternating sections of garter and stockinette that sandwich more simple lace. The caplet can be styled as a long cowl under your coat or as a snuggly bit or warmth across your shoulders like a shawl. With no loose ends to contend with, the circular shaped caplet is the perfect everyday accessory for year-round comfort. Dress it up, dress it down and it travels with you all day.
Both sizes have a 23”/ 59 cm neck opening. Size Small/Medium fits 40.5 to 56”/ 103 to 142 cm around the upper arms and chest at bust level. Depth is 16”/50.5 cm. The bottom edge blocks to 64”/ 162 cm.
Large/ Ex Large fits 45 to 66”/ 116 to 167 cm around upper arms and chest at bust level. Depth is 18”/ 45 cm. Blocked bottom edge is 71”/ 180 cm. Caplet can be easily adjusted for a roomier fit and longer length.
Sample was knit in Rowan Alpaca Soft DK, shade 00209, and used 5 skeins of yarn with enough left over to have added more depth and width. Caplet in the photo is a size large.
