Askafroan or Askfrun, according to southern Swedish folklore, was a protective spirit that lived in ash trees. However, she could be easily offended and send illness if she felt insulted. Many people held a great fear of ash trees and would not go near them after nightfall.

Suggested yarn: Sägen Light Fe from Elkmarket Yarn. I´ve used the colour Askafroan.
Yarn: Approx 150 g
Suggested needles: 3,5 mm (US4) circular needle 60 cm
Gauge: 20 sts x 34 rows = 10x10 cm / 4x4” in garter sts back and forth, blocked and stretched.
Notions: Scissors, tapestry needle, 1 stitch marker.

~ This shawl is worked flat with increases on one edge to achieve an asymmetrical triangle.
