Askrigg Sweater
The Askrigg sweater is a top-down raglan sweater and can be knitted by holding a DK and fingering weight yarn together or with an aran weight yarn. First, you’ll knit the (optional) double folded collar and then knit short rows to improve sweater fit. Raglan increases are worked every other round with some sizes using compound increases in later rounds. The body and arms are then split, and the sleeve stitches put on hold whilst the body is knit. The sleeve stitches are then picked back up and knitted. As this is a top-down pattern, it is easily adjustable for length and whilst the samples use a deep rib, this is also optional. Sizing is based off the Knitting Council size guides.
The pattern is written for the sweater to be worn with ~ 20 cm of positive ease, however if you want a tighter fit, you can size down.
Sizes correspond to XS - 5XL as given by the Knitting Council’s size guides and correspond to a finished garment chest size of 90 cm - 170 cm.
The samples were originally knit with a DK weight yarn held double with a fingering sock yarn but it can also be knit using an aran weight yarn.
Gauge = 15 stitches x 21 rows = 10 cm x 10 cm
All measurements are stated in cm. Yarn required is stated in m. Please note - the yarn required is the meterage required of both yarns if you are holding the DK and fingering yarn double.
