These socks were inspired by one of Viking Ragnar Lothbrok’s wives, the Princess Aslaug. Outwardly more feminine and refined than his previous wife, Lagertha, she displays emotional rather than physical strength. The pattern features a strong lace panel centered amidst a bit of stockinette and flanked by ribbing. The pattern as a whole is shield-like, and the center is reminiscent of a serpent after her fourth son, Sigurd Snake-In-The-Eye whose birthmark she prophesied.
The pattern continues onto the heel, ending in a single line of lace. The same occurs at the end of the foot, with the center line of lace continuing through the toe.
The openness of the lace along with the side ribbing give a range of stretch to each of the three available sizes. If in doubt, choose the smaller size.
