Aspen Waves Anklet Socks
It’s summer and time for knitting summer socks! Aspen Waves Anklet Socks is a lacey top-down ankle sock pattern and is intermediate skill level. My inspiration for the lace pattern, similar to other patterns, is the gorgeous aspen trees in the Canadian Rockies Foothills. The leaves run together in this pattern across the top of the foot with a short picot cuff making it a dream to knit up quickly.
The lace is not difficult, but it does require a little step up in skills so beginner knitters will be able to knit this by learning just a few extra stitches.
I have made the socks in size Medium using 1 skein (100g/ 3.5 oz.) of Ancient Arts Revival Fingering in Dune Grass (49% Wool/ 34% Mohair/ 11% Nylon/ 4% Acrylic/ 2% Silk). Substituting other fingering yarns with silk, cotton and nylon blends would make a great summer sock.
Difficulty: Intermediate
You will need to know how to cast on, knit and purl stitch, decrease, and kitchener stitch.
Sizes: Small (Medium, Large)
This pattern has been tested in all sizes.
Materials Needed:
1 skein (100g/3.5 oz) of fingering weight yarn
Size US 1/2.25mm Double Pointed Needles (or circulars if you prefer Magic Loop)
3 stitch markers
Scissors
Tapestry needle
The instructions for the construction of the socks are written and the lace pattern is also charted.
