Aspen Waves Cowl

It’s fall and time for knitting warm and cozy cowls! Aspen Waves Cowl is a lacey pattern knit in the round and is intermediate skill level. Its not hard to knit lace! Just doing yarnovers and decreases, like knit two together, and you are on your way.

Aspen Waves Cowl is a neck warmer knit in the round.
The yarns used are lace and fingering weight held together = DK weight.

I have made the sample cowl using:
-1 skein (100g/ 3.5 oz.) of Ancient Arts Socknado Fingering Yarn in colourway Shy Orchid (80% Superwash Fine Merino Wool/ 20% Nylon) and
- 1 skein (50g/ 1.75 oz.) Ancient Arts Delicacy Lace (75% Superkid Mohair/ 25% Mulberrry Silk) in colourway Apple Blossom.
The yarns are held together = DK weight. Substituting other yarns together or DK weight yarns would be appropriate.

Difficulty: Intermediate
You will need to know how to cast on, yarn over, knit, purl stitches and decrease (instructions provided).

Size: One Size and easily customizable.
This pattern has been tested.

Materials Needed:
1 skein (100g/ 3.5oz) of fingering weight yarn
1 skein (50g/ 1.75oz) of lace weight yarn
Size US 4/3.5cm 24” circular needles.
9 stitch markers (with one unique)
Row Counter
Scissors
Tapestry needle

The instructions are written and charted.

My inspiration for the lace pattern is the gorgeous aspen trees in the Canadian Rockies Foothills. It’s a dream to knit up quickly as the patterns repeat in the round. The lace is not difficult, but it does require a little step up in skills so beginner knitters will be able to knit this by learning just a few extra stitches. This is the second pattern in the Aspen Waves Series. See Aspen Waves Anklet Socks in my Ravelry Store.

A huge thanks to my test knitters for their valued advice, guidance, feedback and encouragement.
