This pattern has been created using 2 strands off DK held together for the main cosy body, the remaining pieces are knitted using single strand of yarn.

The loopy stitch can be a bit hard on the hands when increasing, it is advised to use a circular knitting needle used to knit flat, the extra stitches go onto the cord and makes it easier. Also knit small amounts at a time, so that your hands don’t ache. It is worth the effort.

You can use any double knit yarn.
