The Assookinakii cowl was designed for those times in life when you need a healing and meditative knit to put your worries, dreams, or hopes into. Assookinakii (ass-s-oo-kin-uh-k-EE) means “healer” in the Blackfeet language. During times of unrest in my life I often lose my ‘knitting mojo’ and I need a straightfoward yet intriguing project to get my creative energy back on track. Through knitting we mend what troubles our hearts.

Assookinakii is made up of a simple mosaic pattern, knit inside out. We used The Farmers Daughter Fiber’s Soka’pii, a fingering weight bouncy Rambouillet and Spincycle Yarn’s Dyed In the Wool which gives so much life and excitement to this design. We used a no fuss technique to line the cowl with Oh Dang!, an incredibly soft Silk and Suri Alpaca Blend. However, you can leave this out if you do not need the extra warmth.*
