NEEDLES

US #8 5.0 mm, or size needed to obtain gauge;
All sizes: 24” 60 cm and 32” 80 cm circular needles.
Sizes M-XXL: 40” 100 cm circular needles.
Sizes XL-XXL: 60” 150 cm circular needles.
Optional: double-pointed needles for small-circumference knitting.

US #6 4.0 mm, or two sizes smaller than gauge needles;
All sizes: 24” 60 cm and 32” 80 cm circular needles.

Note: Work the body with the needle length closest to the finished chest measurement. Use the longest needles indicated for your size when joining the body and the sleeves together at the beginning of the yoke. Switch to shorter lengths as needed while working the yoke. Use your preferred method of small-circumference knitting to work the neckband and the sleeves.

NOTIONS
3 stitch markers (including one to indicate the end of round).
4 stitch holders or waste yarn (to hold stitches at each underarm).
1 long and 2 short circular stitch holders or waste yarn (to hold live stitches for body and sleeves).
Blunt tapestry needle.

CONSTRUCTION NOTES
This garment is worked seamlessly in the round from the bottom up.
Directions for the Channel Island Cast On, the Icelandic Bind Off, Short-Row Shaping Using Yarn Overs and the Kitchener Stitch, as well as other useful information, can be found in the Special Techniques section of the book.
The body is worked from the hem to the underarms in stockinette with stranded colorwork without shaping.
The sleeves are worked similarly from the cuff to the underarm and are shaped with paired, symmetrical increases.
The stitches for the body and both sleeves are joined together on one set of circular needles to work the yoke.
The underarm stitches are placed on stitch holders or waste yarn and are grafted together during the finishing process.
Short-Row shaping is worked at the shoulders to increase the back length of the garment.
1x1 Ribbing is always worked using the smaller needles.
