Any skein of DK or Sport weight yarn could work, but I really love something a little bit different, a fabulous hand dyed skein, or something with a little bit of sparkle.

Gauge is not crucial for this, I used a US 6 for the Feza and an 8 for the Sublime, so you might want to match your needle to your yarn, so that you get a fabric that you like. The cables should be well-defined and the lace should be fluid.
