Atlanta Bargello
Blanket is worked in one piece using intarsia, so there is no wrong side and there are very few ends to weave in. The pattern is made up of repeating units, so you can use any gauge and make it any size, using any number of colours.
The Bargello pattern is really easy to work. Except for differing offsets at the beginning of a row, the pattern is just “10 black sc, 20 colour sc” over and over. So it’s easy to mindlessly work on with the TV on.
There’s no special materials strictly required, but it’s nice to have some kind of bobbin for the intarsia work. I used large clothespins.
There’s a little baby about to be born in Atlanta whose parents I love very much, but will not be able to see. I’ll be relying on the postal service to send my love to the new family.
A low-vision version of this pattern is now available. The chart is accompanied with written line-by-line instructions. The font is 22 point, black, san serif, and has no italics, following guidelines here.
