The legend of Atlantis has been alive for over two thousand years. The fabulous island of the Golden Age, destroyed by the gods, perished as a result of an earthquake and flood, hidden by the waters of the ocean. This story continues to excite and inspire to this day. Perhaps, at the bottom there are still marble columns of palaces and porticoes, entwined with seaweed, in the thickets of which schools of fish swim. I present to you my stole “Atlantis” inspired by this myth
I hear in the pattern of this stole the whisper of the ocean, rocking its eternal waves over the ancient ruins of the legendary city.

I invite you to knit a stole in stranded colorwork with a steek.
The stole is worked in the round to the end, forming a tube. The circumference of the tube is equal to the stole width (without the finishing). The length can be adjusted as you go. After completing a tube, a straight line is cut along the center of the steek, and folded hem is worked along all four sides of the stole to hide the cut edges.
Please keep in mind that the finished size of the stole may vary depending on the yarn weight, the tension of your knitting, and the desired length of your stole (number of the pattern repeats).
The steek itself is a group of extra 6-12 stitches that are made for future cutting. In this area, alternate threads of different colors allow stitches to stick better to each other.

Suggested Yarn: I recommend using 100% sheep wool, 440-550 m/100 g.
You will need two contrast colors of yarn: for the background and for the pattern.
You want to be absolutely certain that your yarn wouldn’t bleed! Check the color fastness of the yarn with a swatch.
Yarn usage will depend on your knitting tension, the yarn weight, and the desired length of your stole.

For the stole shown on the pictures here I used Knoll Supersoft (Knoll Yarns Shetland Type Super Soft Wool 2/11.5 nm), 2 colors (white+ larkspur) 2×150 g.
Beads Miyuki 6.0 - 90 g.
Knitting needles 3,5
Size 78 × 180 cm

Please note: the finishing (border) is a rather consumable element in terms of material. So, if you are limited in the amount of yarn, you need to complete the main part when you still have about 20% of the total amount of yarn in stock.

Difficulty level - moderate.

Skills required - stranded color (Fair Isle) knitting; picking up sts along edges; working folded hems.
Gauge may vary depending on yarn weight, needle size, and your personal knitting tension

Needles and Notions: Circular knitting needles 2.5 and 3.5 mm; spare needles/cables; stitch markers; scissors; 1.75 mm crochet hook; tapestry needle. You may want to adore your stole with some beads.

Обратите внимание на стойкость окрашивания пряжи.

Расход зависит от пряжи и вашей плотности вязания. .Вам понадобится в среднем по 150 - 200 грамм пряжи обоих цветов. Обратите внимание: финальная отделка (кайма) - довольно расходный по материалу элемент. Так что, если вы ограничены в количестве пряжи, нужно принимать решение об окончании основного полотна, когда у вас в запасе есть еще примерно 20% от общего количества пряжи.

Уровень сложности средний. Для успешного выполнения необходим навык вязания жаккарда, а также подъема петель и вывязывания обвязки с зубчатым краем.

Плотность вязания: может варьироваться в зависимости от толщины выбранной вами пряжи и номера спиц.
