Atlin
This pattern is available as a downloadable PDF in English here on Ravelry, and in Norwegian at Stellacharming.no.
A very good friend of mine moved all the way to Australia to marry her sweetheart. Australia is very very far away from Norway, and when she told me she was expecting a baby I almost immediately got the idea for this blanket. I want to be a part of my friend´s and the baby´s life, and when I can´t be there myself, I wanted to do the next best thing which is to send my love in the form of something I have designed and knitted. Later, when she told me that the baby was a boy I gave the blanket the working name “Prince of Melbourne”. The official name is Atlin, but I still think of the blanket as belonging to the little prince of Melbourne. The little prince was borne in mid June (the day before my own birthday actually) and I am happy to say the blanket made it there in time for the birth, and that the parents loved it.
The Atlin baby blanket is worked in a beautiful leaf pattern with a ridged edge. I actually made the blanket of yarn from my stash, which decided the colours, and also inspired the leaf pattern.
I have had both the English and the Norwegian patterns tested by some very skilled and creative knitters. Thank you so much, ladies!
