Pamper your hands all winter in the Aubrey Mittens, knit in Anzula Luxury Fiber’s lovely For Better or Worsted yarn. Available in three sizes, the mittens are a perfect showcase for the large, leafy cable motif that runs down the back of the hand. Most of the cables can be easily worked without a cable needle, and the mittens can be combined with any of the other pieces in The Virescent Collection to create a matching set.

This pattern contains both fully charted and written instructions.

Recommended Yarn:
Anzula Luxury Fibers For Better or Worsted, one skein — 80% merino / 10% cashmere / 10% nylon — 200 yds (183 m) to 114 g. Shown in colorway Juniper, size S.

Yardage Requirements by Size:
S = approx. 165 yds (150 m)
M = approx. 175 yds (160 m)
L = approx. 185 yds (169 m)

Sizing:
Small — 9” (23 cm) total length, to fit hand 7” (18 cm) around
Medium — 9.5” (24 cm) total length, to fit hand 7.5” (19 cm) around
Large — 10” (25.5 cm) total length, to fit hand 8” (20.5 cm) around

Gauge:
21 sts and 31 rows to 4” (10 cm) in stockinette st, knit in the round, washed and blocked.

Needles:
US 5 (3.75 mm) and US 6 (4 mm) needles, for preferred method of working in the round — I used DPNs.

PLEASE NOTE: I knit very tightly. I used US 6 (4 mm) and US 7 (4.5 mm) needles for my mittens, but knitters who are typically “on gauge” will likely need to use US 5 (3.75 mm) and US 6 (4 mm) . Very loose knitters may need to go down even further. Changes in gauge will affect finished size and amount of yarn used—to meet these dimensions, be sure to use the needle size that gives gauge.

Other Materials:
One (optional) stitch marker to indicate beg. of round, two stitch markers to delineate thumb gusset (thin markers recommended), cable needle in appropriate size, tapestry needle.

Skills Needed:
Knitting in the round, cabling, ribbing, decreasing in cable pattern

Pattern has been tech edited and test knit.
