Audrey 12" Afghan Square
This pattern was commissioned for the 2018 BAMCAL for the month of June. Thank You to the moderators for asking me to design a square again this year!
I named this pattern after my Grandmother, Audrey, who passed away as a result of ALS (also known as MND or Lou Gehrig’s Disease) in 1996. She was the daughter of Mattie, who was the inspiration for my Mattie’s Flower square. While this is a free pattern, I would encourage anyone who is able to donate to their provincial ALS Society (Canada), the ALS Association (US), or the MND Association (UK) to support ALS research and patient care initiatives.
This pattern was written for 4 colours (A, B, C, D), but is suitable for projects using more or fewer colours. It features bullion stitches, crocodile petals, fans, back post stitches, working in the flo and blo and an optional moss stitch border.
A note about skill level: This pattern is rated as advanced due to the inclusion of the bullion stitch. However, instructions for an alternate to the bullion stitch are included in the pattern for those who aren’t comfortable making bullion stitches and for those who just don’t like the stitch.
A video tutorial for the back post top loop (bptl) stitches found in the pattern is also available via my blog at this link (Please note that the tutorial was created for one of my other designs, so that design is referenced in the video. The technique/stitch remains the same, however):

Corrected pattern posted June 5, 2018. Apologies!
For whatever reason, Ravelry is not pushing the update to individual libraries as it generally would. If the pattern is in your library, I recommend removing it and then adding it back again to force the change to the file in your library.
