Audrey's Beanie
Audrey’s Beanie is freely inspired by the 90’s TV series Twin Peaks created by David Lynch and Mark Frost. The pattern is a tribute to the character Audrey Horne (Sherilyn Fenn), who wore this beanie in the series.
At first glance, the beanie does not exactly look unique. But on a closer look, it is quite peculiar. First, it has a chestnut-like shape. Second, it was difficult for me assessing how the beanie itself is knitted. After studying all existing photos of it, I have concluded that it is certainly not an ordinary ribbing pattern. The beanie looks very tight and sharp, so I have chosen to knit the beanie in half twisted rib. Whether it’s identical to the original or not, I’ll probably never know. But if nothing else, the result is so beautiful, if you ask me.
In this pattern, you can choose whether you want to go all in on the Audrey style and make the little chestnut shaped top, or if you want to make the top of the beanie round. Both options are described in the pattern.
The beanie is knitted from bottom up. First, the folding edge is knitted in reverse half twisted ribbing compared to the rest of the beanie, so it ends up looking the same as the rest when folded. I have used the yarn Cool Wool Big from Lana Grossa, where I knit with two threads held together. If you want to use other yarn with only one thread you can easily do so, as long as it has the same gauge.
