Aunt Shirley Hat
Also available through the Knit Picks website’s Independent Designer Program HERE.
Named for my Aunt Shirley who was “healthy and just fine except for the cancer”. She fought the good fight between 1993 and 2009, but sadly passed away before I finished the hat. I kinda knew that would happen.
I think it will make a good chemo cap - soft and elastic, sophisticated and not too ‘out there’. The charted portion of the hat pattern also makes a cool cowl - see my cowl project with pattern notes here.
It is a written and charted pattern with notes for both adult and child’s size adjustments.
The pattern will be available here on Ravelry and should also be available through Knit Picks’ Independent Designer Program when it is done, stay tuned! THANK YOU to Smashingpuffin and Twoply for their wonderful help!
It is based on a k1,p1 ribbing pattern with increases and decreases for the direction of the ribbing.
The double increase is a little tough to understand in writing, I have posted pics and some (not fabulous) videos that I hope will help. Click the flickr button below the images at left to see on flickr.com
I’ve been told that the 2017 pattern a day knitting calendar has Swish Worsted noted as the yarn - I used Swish DK in all my pattern writing and testing. SO SORRY for the mixup!
