About the Aurélie Scarf
The Aurélie Scarf is a cozy scarf for cold days. It is knitted in a simple stitch pattern which creates a rib effect, but without using purl stitches. This rib pattern creates volume which makes the scarf the perfect cozy companion for the colder months.
GENERAL INFORMATION
Sizes: Small (Large)
Measurements of the finished scarf: 21x180 cm (31x210cm)
About the sizes
The small scarf is a narrow scarf that can either be wrapped around the neck once or, which is my partner’s preferred version, is suitable for folding in the middle and then putting the ends through the loop.
The large version is much more voluminous and can be wrapped around the neck one to one and a half times or wrapped around and then knotted in front or whatever you can think of.
Choose the size according to how you like wearing your scarfs or measure a favourite scarf to decide which size to knit. The scarf on the title page is shown in the size „large“.
Gauge: 10x10 cm = 25 stitches x 26 rows on 5.5 mm needles in pattern.
Material
The scarf is knitted with two strands of yarn held together, a thin merino or wool thread (Fingering-Sport Weight = approx. 150-230m/50g) held together with a thin mohair (Lace Weight = approx. 200-250m/25g).
- You will need approx. 450 (710) m of both yarns.
Yarn suggestions:
The pictured sample has been knitted with one strand of Isager Tweed (approx. 200m/50g) in the colour oak and one strand of Isager Silk Mohair (approx. 212m/25g) in the colour 2.
Other beautiful yarn combinations that have been tested are: Knitting for Olive Merino (250m/50g) or Sandnes Sunday (235m/50g) or Drops Flora (210m/50g) or Filcolana Arwetta (210m/50g) held together with Knitting for Olive Soft Silk Mohair (225m/25g) or Sandnes Tynn Silk Mohair (212m/25g) or Drops Kid-Silk (210m/25g) or Filcolana Tilia (210m/25g).
Versions without mohair are also possible, but be aware that this changes the character of the scarf. It is recommended to knit a swatch to see if the density and the drape of the fabric are suitable for a scarf and to go up or down a needle size if necessary. Note that the required amount of yarn may change.
