This beautifully soft cabled capelet is knitted from Merino wool sourced and hand-dyed by a family-owned company in Uruguay, which aims to give jobs to people – mostly women of all ages – who have fewer opportunities than others. All wool produced in Uruguay is mulesing-free, sheep are sheared before lambing and Malabrigo is committed to sustainable, humane sheep welfare. Its yarns and dyes meet the Oeko-Tex standards certifying that they are free of many harmful substances often found in manufacturing. Since 2017 the company gets most of its energy from renewable wood pellets, which come from runoff waste which would otherwise naturally decompose, and has significantly reduced its carbon footprint as a result.
