Aussie Spread Sal
Aussie Spread Sal is inspired by one of my all-time favourites, an Australian spread I enjoy each and every morning on toast. If you’ve not tried it, start with a very thin spread.. Sal is a cute little pattern and a great gift for someone abroad or who like me, just can’t get enough!
Sal is an easy amigurumi (crochet) pattern written in English using US (American) terminology. The pattern includes detailed instructions in an easy to follow layout but a knowledge of basic crochet stitches and techniques used to make amigurumi is essential.
Your tension, yarn thickness and hook size used will affect the size of your finished item. My Sal is approx. 12cm tall.
You will need:
- 2.75mm hook/D-3 (US)
- 8ply yarns/DK or Light Worsted > less than 50g in each colour
- BLACK 4ply yarn or embroidery thread
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle
- Polyester toy stuffing
- A pair of 7.5mm safety eyes
- Stitch marker (optional)
Notes:
- Amigurumi is usually stitched in the round and a yarn with no stretch is best.
- When changing colour, pull through the new colour on the stitch before you need it. This will ensure that you have the correct colour yarn on the hook for the upcoming stitch.
- Generally, the hook you use for amigurumi will be a smaller than for other crochet as you want the stitches tight.
- Your tension, yarn thickness and hook size used will affect the size of your finished items.
- I’ve used the following yarns: o BROWN = Paintbox Yarns Cotton DK in Col. 411 Coffee Bean o RED = Paintbox Yarns Cotton DK in Col. 415 Pillar Red o YELLOW = Paintbox Yarns Cotton DK in Col. 423 Buttercup Yellow
- I have used safety eyes but you may choose to embroider. Please ensure that there are no loose fittings.
