The second instalment of the Aurora Collection, the Australis Shawl is a crescent shaped shawl that is perfect for combining 2 special skeins of 4ply.

Inspired by the southern lights, this two colour shawl uses one skein of BFL Supersock from Travelknitter in the ‘Midnight Fireflies’ colourway and one skein of 4ply from Peak District Yarns in the ‘Whaley Welldressing’ colourway. This crescent shaped shawl uses short rows and a knit on edging to represent the swirling colours of the lights whilst also creating a deeper shawl. A mix of stocking stitch and simple lace keeps this a soothing knit that is easy to pick up and put down yet will result in a beautiful shawl full of interesting detail.

If you are new to short rows I offer a free tutorial on my blog showing the technique used for this shawl. You can find more details on my website www.susayerdesigns.wordpress.com
