Autumn Aspen Hat
Designed for Knotions, June 2019 Issue.
With cotton blends in mind, I went with my go-to warm weather yarn: Berroco’s Modern Cotton, the DK version (it’s also available in
worsted weight). This yarn is so soft, has a nice stretch to it, wears and machine washes beautifully, and is cool on the body. Being
that it has cotton as the main fiber, it does not stretch like a 100% acrylic (or wool) yarn that you may be used to using for hats, so
the actual hats are made larger than usual - diameters are about 0.75” (1.9 cm) larger.
If you substitute a 100% acrylic or wool yarn (or similar), your hat will turn out too big. A similar yarn you can use is Premier Yarn’s Cotton Fair, which is stocked at Michael’s.
