When growing up in the 70ies, I remember everyone wearing the tight-ribbed sweaters with stripes, often combined with wide velvet pants. As an adult, I missed having such a turtle-necked sweater in soft wool in my closet.

The main idea behind this sweater is based on a horizontal “belt” which is adapted to the model’s size and body shape. In this pattern the increases are made for the bust and down to the hips as you do with bust darts when sewing. This makes the sweater even more flattering.
