Autumn in the Foothills
The first snow in October dusts the foothills, leaving the autumn colors peeking through the frost or wide swaths of yellow, orange, and green, depending on how the storm hit the mountainside.
This marling and lace shawl, while speaking to a particular season, looks spectacular in all colors of yarn.
Yarn
You’ll need two (2) 100 g skeins of sock yarn, preferrably ones that combine a superwash wool and nylon.
Feel free to mix and match bases—this is a fantastic opportunity to stash dive and use special club yarns. When looking for colors, select one solid/tonal colorway and one variegated or speckled colorway.
Sample shown in:

- Variegated Colorway (VC): Rhapsody Fiber Perfect Sock 75/25 Superwash Merino/Nylon. Colorway: Desert Bloom
Approximate Yardage
- SC: 300 yds
- VC: 385 yds
